Giula - The Calvinist Church

Available in:
The Calvinist Church from Giula was made of stone in the 15th century, and it is considered one of the oldest most important ecclesiastic monuments from the territory of the former Ugocea district. It has one nave holding against buttresses, a polygonal sanctuary and a tower that was later added. The windows on the southern facade still preserve the Gothic mulls. The ceiling used to be vaulted, but today is cassette. The triumphal arch is preserved in its pointed shape and it separates the nave from the sanctuary. Also, the Priest’s Chair that was made of stone still exists on the southern wall of the sanctuary. The present wooden belfry-tower was built in 1977, after the old tower dating from 1795 was stroke by the lightening.
